What’s up everyone! I am checking in from beautiful Bogota Colombia! Our shows in South America have been incredible. Thank you to all who have come out to support us and Lamb Of God. We’ve been having a great time traveling, seeing sights, playing shows and meeting fans. The first 3 shows were with our good friends Lacuna Coil, they are always fun to hang with and they have a great audience down here. It was really cool to see them again. We toured with them in 2004 on Ozzfest and again in 2006 we both played main stage at Ozzfest which was incredible! They are now starting a US tour so go support them and say hi to Christina & the guys from me!
The tour kicked off in Sao Paolo Brazil, the energy was off the charts. The audience was rowdy & loud from start to finish. I hadn’t been on stage since our show in Perth Australia so I was feeling a little rusty but the crowd enthusiasm was so intense that I quickly felt back at home. It was a really nice welcome back to Brazil for us. I’ll never forget our first time visiting Sao Paulo w/ Agnostic Front in 2005, that was was awesome as was our show in 2009 but sharing the stage w/ Lacuna Coil & Lamb Of God might have been the best SP show yet. I really want to go back when the new Hatebreed album is completed and play more shows in Brazil, maybe Belo, Curatiba, Rio & Sao Paolo again! We’ll see!
Argentina was up next, Buenos Aires is a great place to play. Fans greeted us at the airport and hotel and made us feel very welcome with their smiles and gifts. Our set was shorter because our flight arrived late and we had some technical difficulties but all in all it was a great show and I’m looking forward to going back and doing a full headline set!
This photo below was taking by Randy from Lamb Of God. The crowds in places like Italy, Spain, Argentina & Chile sing “oooole, ole ole ole Hatebreed, Hatebreed” we’ll need to do a live record one day and get a good recording of it!
Fans made me this special Argentina Jersey which I wore for “Destroy Everything” that was awesome! Thank you!
Santiago Chile is always amazing for Hatebreed so we knew that teaming up w/ Lamb Of God & Lacuna Coil meant we were going to play for some new fans and really have a great show. The crowd was chanting Hatebreed for a good 15 minutes before we played and the second we broke into “Hands Of A Dying Man” the pit erupted and stayed crazy through out the whole show. Randy Blythe came out and did “Doomsayer” with us and we closed the set us with “Destroy Everything” which had the entire place singing and jumping. I could have swore the ground was shaking the entire set. Thank you Chile!
Something you see a lot of when traveling to Chile are stray dogs, a lot of them came up to us at the outdoors restaurants and on the streets. One day I will have to adopt one but right now I have 5 dogs at home of which 3 are rescues. Just look at this face! I wish I could take them all home with me.
Last night was Quito, Ecuador. Hatebreed has never played there before so I did not know what to expect but the crowd did not disappoint!
During the day, Randy Blythe, Chris, Wayne, Matt & myself ventured off to see the Equator. It was a great experience. Often times when you travel you have to get to your hotel and check in and then head right over to the venue. Sometimes promoters don’t have people that can act as tour guides which makes sight seeing difficult in some places but we were lucky enough that Marcos & Liberation MC booked our show through some really cool promoters and this guy Dario took us out to eat lunch and over to see the equator. We even saw a baby alpaca being born!
So far the trip has been great! I will post another blog soon! Keep reading for more news and updates. Thanks!
It’s looks like I’ll only have 2 or 3 JASTA shows this year so if you are nearby don’t miss them!
