and drummer Dave Suzuki to round out the war machine - support acts are
The Black Dahlia Murder, Cattle Decapitation and Watch Them Die

02/13/04 THE ESOTERIC needs your help.
In June of 2000 THE ESOTERIC did a short tour. On that tour, the band performed a song called "Tsunami" in their set that they stopped playing shortly after that tour. Currently, They are working on putting together remastered and repackaged versions of THE ESOTERIC's older works and plan to include bonus tracks of every song they can find recorded from their history. Unfortunately, the only song they have no recording of is "Tsunami" their best bet was to attempt to track down any live video shot during that tour and try to find useable audio of that song. A long shot they know, but if there is any way anyone or a friend or a member of one of the bands may have taped those shows, or if anyone might have a lead on anyone that might know, or know how to contact any of the bands listed, the information would prove invaluable and we would be most thankful. A partial list of dates follows. Please contact them if you have any thoughts or ideas on this subject.

01/28/04 Out now on Fight Fire with Fire Records - The Change s/t CD Rock journalists have been calling Sweden "the hotbed of new music," due to its thriving and extremely creative music scene. No doubt about it, in all fields of music, from top 40 pop to death metal, Sweden has now become a force to be reckoned with worldwide. And hardcore is no exception – representing the country’s scene is THE CHANGE, a fresh and dynamic new band playing the some of the best melodic hardcore found anywhere. Taking cues from old school 80’s ‘core but revitalizing it with just enough melody and rock, THE CHANGE come out swinging on their self-titled debut with their own brand of ambitious thrash. Produced
by Don Ahlsterberg (International Noise Conspiracy, Division of Laure Lee) the album is a step above the rest both sonically and structurally. This release is sure to demand the attention and respect of kids across America as well as Europe, confirming that the media attention over Sweden is more than justified. With just one listen to THE CHANGE, you’ll believe the hype. (www.fightfirehq.com)

01/12/04 A message from Lu Subzero "What's happening everyone? Here's what's going on. I'm looking for members (guitar, bass) to help me start up a new positive HC project (no name yet). Looking to record a 4 song demo and shop it around as well as play shows in the tri state area which will hopefully lead to something greater. I want the music to be in the same style as our SUBZERO song SWINE HERD which is tight, energetic, old style HC with giant sing alongs, old style break downs, a touch of melody, and a positive message. The music needs to be influenced by the likes of BAD BRAINS, SICK OF IT ALL, GORILLA BISCUITS, BEYOND, TOKEN ENTRY, UNDERDOG, LIFE SENTENCE, 7 SECONDS, YOUTH BRIGADE, DAG NASTY, SSD CONTROL, SOULSIDE, ANTIDOTE, UNIFORM CHOICE, MINOR THREAT, old FUGAZI and so on. It should have some elements of whats going on today in HC as well. This is for serious musicians only! Band experience is necessary! Must be able to practice in NYC and/or in CT. SKRAPPYDB@AOL.COM is my addy. Help spread the word! Peace........."

Back in November he signed Rochester, NY technical grind-metal band Psyopus. They have been described as "Burnt by the Sun on crack but with more classical guitar influence". Look for their disc to street in March 2004 and an mp3 from the new album is posted on the Black Market Activities site. www.blackmarketactivities.com/label/media/mp3/psyopus-death.mp3 In other BMA news, Ohio's Premonition of War will still be doing a split 7" with The Red Chord for Relapse Records at some point in 2004 and then will follow things up with the release of a newly recorded version of their 'Glorified Dirt' ep for Black Market Activities. Also look for POW to announce a new bass player plus they will have a new full length for Victory Records out early next year.

12/16/03 The Worm that just wont die. SHAI HULUD TO DO 4 WEST COAST SHOWS WITH ORIGINAL SINGER CHAD GILBERT A message from the band....
Just when you thought you were rid of them at long last, Shai Hulud surfaces for a few more shows to close out their 8 year-long run as an honest band with a love and true appreciation for aggressive music with substance and passion - and consequently, a band without a pot to piss in. The worm's That Within Blood Ill-tempered lineup goes Godzilla on Japan in January of 2004 for string of dates, only to follow with 4 shows in California, reunited with the band's Hearts Once Nourished With Hope And Compassion vocalist, Chad Gilbert. Shai Hulud, with Chad Gilbert, also has plans to play limited East Coast dates at some point in 2004. In addition to the aforementioned shows, Shai Hulud is discussing the possibility of a brief run of European dates (TWBI lineup) in the coming year. For any and all official information on confirmed and tentative shows, check www.hulud.com. Only what is stated there can be taken as fact. Shai Hulud would like to warmly thank anyone and everyone that understood the purpose behind the band's existence. The band is forever in your debt. Come share some final moments with one of the only bands that has boldly been a thorn in the side of the cliques, trends, and fashions of the underground music scene since their inception. Shai Hulud's profound hatred is survived by Zombie Apocalypse and The Warmth Of Red Blood - an even bigger thorn in the side of a people overcome with insincerity and bullshit. Stillborn Record's With Honor will be on all the West Coast Dates.

12/11/03 When Botch broke up there was talk of a possible DVD release down the road. Well, the DVD is finally becoming a reality as the band has now found a label (likely Hydra Head Records and/or Excursion Records) willing to put it out. Botch will be regrouping briefly in the near future to mix the audio and discuss packaging for the release. The DVD will reportedly consist of five cameras worth of footage from the band's final show in June of 2002. It also appears that the DVD could contain a surprise or two as one band member recently stated the following: "There will be an awesome development (read: something extra) included with the DVD, but I don't really feel like commenting until the idea is set in stone."

12/11/03 Lamb Of God will be filming a video in mid-January with director Dan Rush (who also directed the band's "Ruin" video). The video will reportedly be for the track, "As The Palaces Burn."

12/11/03 Killswitch Engage are now looking at a tentative April 13th release date through Roadrunner/Island/Def Jam for their upcoming new album. The band are said to have entered the studio this week to begin work on the outing.

12/11/03 A Static Lullaby have now parted ways with their drummer Ben Newsham, the official word is as follows:
"A Static Lullaby and drummer Ben Newsham have decided to part ways. Ben Newsham is going to continue on the road with the band, just not as the drummer. Ben is family to the band and although he wont be behind the kit, he will still be part of the family. News on our drummer situation as soon as we have solidified something. thank you." Newsham had recently made the jump from drum tech to drummer following the departure of drummer Brett Dinovo a month or two back.

12/08/03 Boston hardcore label Stab and Kill Records will be changing their name to Perfect Victim Records. According to the label, they have "decided that a less abrasive name will do nothing but help them and their bands." Known for releasing albums by Blue Monday, A-team, etc., in addition to producing a slew of vinyl, the label will change their name effectively January 1, 2004. All remaining releases with the old logo will still be sold via Perfect Victim, though repressings will bear the new branding

12/08/03 The Autumn Offering has now officially joined the Stillborn Records roster. The five-piece has previously self-released an EP and a 2003 demo Look for their debut full-length to hit stores in early-2004 via Stillborn.

12/08/03 2004 will see Hydra Head Records releasing a two song 7", as well as a CDEP with bonus tracks, from Boston rock trio 27. 27 recently completed a European tour and are now taking time off to write and relax. Expect more to be announced about this release shortly.

Also planned for 2004, is a reissue of AGORPHOBIC NOSEBLEED's "PCP Torpedo." Already well underway, the reissue will see the light of day soon in it's new digital compact disc format. As well as all of the original material, the new release will feature remixes by Justin Broadrick (Godflesh), Merzbow, DJ Speedranch, and others. Look for this release to surface sometime in 2004.

Hydra Head's highly acclaimed instrumental act PELICAN has been hard at work on new material that will be released in the form of a split CD/10" with Kranky Records' GROWING. Few details are available at present, but expect great things. More information coming soon. In the meantime, make sure to check out PELICAN's recently released debut album, "Australasia."

With their established and experienced staff, radiotakeover.com is poised to fill the void left by Vivendi's decision to discontinue operations and delete the contents of MP3.com. "The largest collection of digital works ever assembled" said MP3.com founder and former CEO Mike Robertson, the loss of this online content would send shockwaves throughout the music community.

radiotakeover.com is offering the same services to the many up-and-coming artists. Legitimate artists will be able to upload their music and make it available to their fans worldwide. Artists can post their music online free of charge. Music uploaded will be available for download or streaming. Unlike MP3.com, artists can also simply mail a copy of their release to //radiotakeover and it will be available for download and/or streaming. Additionally, each artist is also provided a personalized URL that directs visitors to that artists' content (ex: radiotakeover.com/bandnamehere).

radiotakeover will also soon maintain up-to-the-minute song and artist popularity charts. These charts will be a great harbinger of trends in song and artist popularity. Resources of this kind have long been important to A&R representatives and have led to the discovery of many unknown artists.

12.02.03 Soilent Green are currently concentrating on writing new material for their third full-length. The group tentatively hopes to enter the studio in early 2004, though studio/producer specifics haven't yet been finalized. Regardless, look for the album to hit stores in Spring 2004 via Relapse Records, followed by some extensive touring.

12.02.03 Here is a Skinlab update:
"Keep an eye open for 'The Nerve Damage Sessions' due early 2004. Then a full-length that should be out before then end of 2004. Expect nothing less than a sick-ass SKINLAB record. We're not going back to our roots or taking the best qualities of our last few records, we're pissed and it's gonna show through our music. We've been paying our dues for the last 10 years, watching bands/scenes come and go. Fuck the drama — we're moving forward and gonna write a brutal yet dynamic album that we'll be able to look back at in another 10 years and be proud of. . It's obvious that what we do isn't any sort of 'one-hit wonder' or a 'flash in the pan', we haven't peaked yet and we're still hungry. Time to put on some shit kickers!! right on, metal freaks. Thanks for the support."

12.02.03 Seattle hardcore band Champion will be in the studio for two weeks in March recording a new full-length. The effort should consist of ten new tracks and will be available mid-2004 from Bridge Nine Records
